A God-blessed Move

On a more personal note, Rosie and I have been enjoying our move to Miami, and have been blessed by the warm reception we have been given by the missionary families here.  We have just had our first meeting with Dr. Smee, our Regional Director, and have been given our first job activities.  Dave will be working on developing pastoral training materials in the different language groups in the Caribbean and helping fix several minor technology needs around the office and warehouse while he develops contacts and makes friends with people from around the Region.  Rosie will be compiling accurate missionary profiles for the Region and learning the ropes of how best to assist volunteers that desire to work in the Caribbean area.
She also is working on various personnel policies that need to be well thought through before becoming official.  The Region has been incredibly supportive of her role as the mother of two little active girls, and we thank God for this generosity.  In fact, Dr. Smee’s wife, MaryAlice, repainted the girl’s rooms a beautiful shade of very light purple (Grace’s favorite color) and bought them a bunk bed for their room!  Needless to say the girls have been thrilled by the move to Miami!

The Girls

Several people have noted how much it seems like the girls have grown in the past several months.  We agree!  First of all, Grace, who used to eat like a mouse, started eating like a horse for a while, and we noticed that all of her clothes got smaller!  I guess we are washing them in water that is too hot?  Hmmm….
Anna, who always eats well, has an improving vocabulary too!  She likes to tell us stories now, and has an interesting little index finger that likes to give her a rather bossy tone when talking with Grace.  She is an amazing bundle of energy, and everyone loves to see her coming and the enthusiasm she brings to any event.
The girls seem to be doing better at going to the nursery, and that is a big blessing.  Deputation was hardest on them, and it is great to see them settling in and hearing Anna say “Go ‘nother church now!”  And this at 9:00 p.m. after two churches services that day!  A party animal I think!

Daddy got a wonderful Father's Day banner that they made in "school" with mommy.

Critters

They said that the lizards eat the roaches, and that you cannot avoid the ants.  The problem is that the lizards leave as much of a mess as the roaches do (or more), and they certainly surprise a person more often since they are not just on the floor (in fact, rarely on the floor).  By far the most interesting so far was the ring-necked snake that coiled it’s tail to show brilliant orange underside coloration.  It was very little, but pretty fast.  I guess the wet outside drives them to look for a drier spot, and our house has no leaks, so we praise God that the little guy looked our way, but then sent him (her?) slithering on his way.  The toad we saw was the size of a small plate!  Wow!  Grace and Anna also saw iguanas in the ditches that run all over here, and beautiful birds.  We have yet to see some ‘gators in the wild, let alone in the house, and we think that is just fine with us.
